Fall Career Fair 2011

Employer Profile Book
Friday, September 23
Roone Arledge Auditorium, Alfred Lerner Hall

Dear Students and Alumni:

Welcome to the 2011 Fall Career Fair!

On behalf of the team at the Center for Career Education, I am delighted to welcome students, alumni and employers to Columbia University for our annual Fall Career Fair. Today over 130 employers and organizations offering full-time and internship positions will be joining us in the Lerner Auditorium to discuss career options within their firms.

This year we are particularly delighted by the diversity of industries featured which include media, consulting, advertising, retail, nonprofit, technology, education, marketing, engineering and financial services.

We’ve compiled this book to assist your navigation of the fair. Profiles and descriptions of all companies present have been included. Collect a copy of the floor plan and locate the employers you’d like to visit. In addition, keep an open mind and meet employers from industries that you may not have considered prior to today’s event. Most importantly, maximize your time at the event. The career fair environment gives you an opportunity for ‘face time’ with employers and the chance to consider multiple industries, in one location, all on the same day. Make a positive first and last impression by selling your relevant skills and experience to each employer. Finally, collect business cards and follow-up with a professional thank you letter after the event.

This year, we will welcome accomplished alumni who will speak at three panels. In partnership with the Earth Institute, alumni will provide guidance about career paths in energy policy and sustainable technology on a “green careers” panel. For those students interested in pursuing a career in education, we will offer a panel on fellowships, teacher training programs and international teaching opportunities. And finally, a group of alumni will discuss the rewards and challenges of starting their own business. Take advantage of these opportunities to learn how others secured career paths of interest.

We wish you the best of luck as you explore your career today and look forward to seeing you at the Center for Career Education. This is one of the many services CCE offers!

Very best wishes,
