The Boston Teacher Residency is an innovative urban teacher preparation program which combines graduate coursework toward a Masters degree in Education with a full-year of co-teaching under the guidance of a veteran Mentor Teacher before placement as a full-time teacher in the Boston Public Schools. We recruit talented and diverse candidates of ALL MAJORS to enter a 13-month Teacher Residency modeled on the teaching hospital approach in which residents combine theory with practice, gaining both strong content knowledge and extensive hands-on, practical experience before becoming an effective practitioner in the field. Our mission is to drive significant student learning gains in Boston through the recruitment, preparation, and support of excellent teachers.
